JAMMU, Sept 15: Following strong protests by students and locals over the alleged misconduct by a teacher at Central Sanskrit University (CSU) Kot Bhalwal, the Campus Administration today suspended the accused teacher.
Aditya, originally from Odisha, had reportedly behaved inappropriately with a class 11th student at the campus.
The student had filed a complaint against the teacher with the Campus Director about two months ago, but no action was taken at that time. Reportedly, in spite of helping the student, some other teachers also sided with the accused.
In response to the campus administration’s failure to address the issue, students from the campus began protesting against the accused teacher.
Today, they were joined by the local residents, including the Sarpanch of the area, Raju. Subsequently, the Station House Officer (SHO) Gharota and the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) arrived at the scene to address the concerns of the protesting students.
Accordingly the University Campus Authorities established contact with the Vice-Chancellor in Delhi, who assured action against the accused teacher and addressed the other demands raised by the students.
Unfortunately, the Director of the University Campus in Jammu could not be reached for his comments on the suspension, as his mobile phone was switched off.
