Vikas Nagar Sarwal residents facing acute water scarcity

JAMMU, Sept 15: The residents of Sarwal Vikas Nagar Ward 26 are facing acute water scarcity for last three days with authorities taking no steps to solve the problem.
Local residents of the area led by Bihari Kak a well known artist told Excelsior that they took up the issue with higher ups in Jal Shakti Department including the Chief Engineer but to no avail.
The residents said on the one hand tall claims are being made to make Jammu a Smart City and on the other hand the people in the heart of city are confronted with water scarcity.
He said there is no response from the authorities to phone calls of people who are facing many hardships due to water scarcity in this hot and humid temperature. One does not know whom to contact for redressal of the problem, he added.
He said the residents of the area are facing this problem for the last three months and it is difficult to pass the days without the water which is essence of life but authorities are not bothered for the plight of the people.
He said the area has been totally neglected by the authorities as the road in Vikas Nagar which is the face of the city is also in dilapidated condition.
