JAMMU, Sept 16: A 4-year-old girl child died after a scooty driven by her father slipped into Canal here at Patoli area, officials said.
They said, around 9 PM on Friday, one Vishwas Gupta of Patoli Brahmana lost control over a scooty he was riding near Main Muthi area, as a result of which the two-wheeler slipped into the Canal.
“Following the accident, the minor daughter of Vishwas Gupta, identified as Anaya Gupta, got swept away by the water currents,” officials said.
Accordingly, they said, the father of the girl approached police and a search operation was launched with the help of SDRF and locals but without any success until Friday night.
“The body of the minor girl child was recovered around 12 PM today by the SDRF and police teams,” officials said, adding that the body of the deceased has been shifted to the mortuary of the Government Medical College Jammu for conducting the post-mortem and further investigation has been started.
