J&K Police hosts 3rd NRPCC meet in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, Sept 16: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh today stated that security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have been working in cohesion and are marching inch-by-inch towards the policy of zero-terrorism in the Union Territory.
The top cop was speaking during the third Northern Regional Police Coordination Committee (NRPCC) meeting hosted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP).
Besides Singh, who chaired the meeting, senior officers representing Police departments of Northern States/UTs and officers of CAPFs/CPOs also attended this high level meeting.
The meeting began with a solemn one-minute silence to honor the martyrs of operations in Anantnag and Kokernag.
During the session, several key officers, including DGP Himachal Pradesh Sanjay Kundu, Special DG CID J&K R R Swain, and Special DG Crime J&K A K Choudhary, among others, delivered presentations covering topics such as crime control, narco-smuggling, anti-terror operations, cybercrime, and information/intelligence sharing.
The discussions covered a wide range of critical issues, including terrorism, the rise in cybercrime, and the use of drones for smuggling contraband across the border.
The participants explored the creation of an Inter-State database, improved communication channels, and intelligence sharing to enhance coordination among police forces.
DGP Dilbag Singh highlighted the collaborative efforts of J&K Police, CAPFs, Army, intelligence agencies, and civil administration, emphasizing their unique model for making Jammu & Kashmir terrorism-free.
He noted a significant reduction in civilian casualties during law and order engagements, showcasing the success of their efforts.
“We are moving inch-by-inch towards the policy of zero terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir”, the DGP said.
He said that terrorism in J&K is at its lowest level and added that this year J&K Security team has been able to neutralize around 40 foreign terrorists and 9 local terrorists adding that local involvement in terrorist activities has drastically come down.
He attributed this success to the synergy among security forces, which has pushed terrorists out of villages and cities into the mountains.
He thanked the people of J&K for their cooperation and emphasized the enforcement of the rule of law against anti-national activities.
The DGP expressed gratitude for the valuable recommendations made during the meeting, which will be considered in shaping policies for law enforcement.
In his opening remarks, ADGP Armed/IRP J&K, SJM Gillani, welcomed all the participants and highlighted the significance of the Regional Police Coordination Committee meeting.
