JAMMU, Sept 17: Leaders of various KP bodies have expressed concern over water scarcity in the Jagti township and urged the Government to take appropriate steps in solving the problem failing which they will be constrained to come to streets.
The Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Migrant Wing president, Sanjay Dhar and another senior leader, P L Thusoo have urged the authorities to take appropriate measures in redressing the problem of Jagti township inmates who are facing acute water scarcity.
They said that despite the repeated pleas to higher ups in the Government no one has so far bothered to settle the issue. The present water supply scheme from Tawi has been a total failure and Government must take up a new scheme in hand to ensure the daily water supply to camp inmates.
Meanwhile, social activist Sunil Pandita has also urged the authorities to take immediate steps in settling the problem. He demanded that till the water supply is restored the authorities should supply water through tankers in the township.
He also expressed concern over non release of flour quota to relief holders and demanded that the same be issued without further delay.
