JAMMU, Sept 17: The Kallpoosh Foundation has inaugurated “Gharapnaa,” a senior citizen care home in Nardani-Raipur, Bantalab, Jammu.
Gharapnaa stands as the first-of-its-kind in Jammu and Kashmir, offering a dignified residence for lonely and needy seniors who seek a comforting haven.
The Kallpoosh Foundation, a nationally renowned socio-cultural non-profit organization with a focus on eco-friendly impact, has dedicated years to uplifting underprivileged individuals and marginalized communities in Jammu & Kashmir and other regions.
Gharapnaa emerged from extensive research and feedback from elderly individuals, often living alone due to their children’s job commitments or overseas residence, leading to isolation and difficulties in daily life.
Gharapnaa was officially launched with a Greh Pravesh Pooja and prasad ceremony, attended by a diverse group of society members, dignitaries, and eager elders interested in exploring the facility.
Gharapnaa for elder care adopts a comprehensive and personalized approach, proactively supporting the elderly and offering them solace and happiness, even when they may have felt abandoned.
Veena Wanchoo, the driving force behind Gharapnaa and a prominent social activist, who also serves as the Chairperson of the foundation, articulated the mission: “At Gharapnaa, nestled in the picturesque surroundings of Nardani-Raipur, we have made it our mission to be the beacon of light in the lives of our elderly residents.”
“We have created a haven where laughter echoes through the hallways, where stories of the past blend with dreams of tomorrow and where hearts find solace in the companionship of newfound friends.”
Rajinder Wanchoo, team leader of Kallpoosh Foundation, further emphasized the importance of addressing the issues faced by senior citizens living alone in cities due to their children’s migration or overseas commitments.
Gharapnaa has garnered support from prominent social activists, such as Murar Ji Koul and Kiran Wattal, along with former Vice-Chancellor, Ashok Aima, who offered their support, suggestions, and contributions to enhance the facilities and safety at the home.
