NMC demands restoration of OPS

JAMMU, Sept 18: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) president, Subash Shastri here today urged PM Modi to appoint 8th Pay Commission, restore Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and release 18 month DA installment arrears.
Addressing NMC workers meeting Shastri said that restoration of OPS will act as confidence building measure.
“Many States like Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab and Karnataka have restored OPS in favour of New Pension Scheme (NPS) employees and we hope that NDA government at Centre will take positive step in this regard,” he continued.
The NMC leader said that notification for constitution of 8th Pay Commission is the need of the hour, which is bound to have bearing on about one core employees and pensioners, both in Central as well as State governments.
“40 per cent of DA should be forthwith merged into basic pay and pension,” he maintained adding: “20 per cent interim relief should be sanctioned as early as possible in favour of employees and pensioners.”
Shastri also insisted on regularization of daily wagers who have completed seven years of service and demanded that their monthly emoluments should be raised to Rs. 18,000 per month.
Rajan Babu Khajuria, B.S Jamwal, Surinder Kumar, Vinod Kumar, Ramesh Sharma, Gara Ram and others were also present in the meeting.
