SRINAGAR : Twenty-four members of four families were rescued and shifted to safer places from avalanche prone area in south Kashmir district of Kulgam, official sources said here today.
They said after heavy snowfall, a message was received at district headquarter that some families are still in Marsha Nallah, Kund, area of Kulgam district, which is being considered avalanche prone.
A police rescue team was immediately rushed and all the four families, consisting 24 members, including women and children, were rescued and brought to safer place.
The entire south Kashmir received heavy to very heavy snowfall in the past 24 hours, causing damage to roof tops of several houses.
