PDD employees to go on protest leave for 48 hours from Sept 25

JAMMU, Sept 19: Dismayed over alleged non-seriousness of the Government towards their demands, Power employees have decided to go on protest leave for 48 hours from September 25.

This was announced by Sachin Tickoo, president of the Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association of the Power Development Department, while talking to media persons, here today.
He lamented lack of significant progress on any of the issues highlighted in the protest leave notice served on August 24, 2023 and post observance of mass protest casual leave on September 9 for 24 hours with participation from Junior Engineers to Chief Engineers supported by various associations of PDD in solidarity with JKEEGA.
“The Government has failed to fulfill commitments. The situation has arisen since last two months’ when salaries are also not being disbursed on time and all the 21 thousand PDD employees are without salary earned for the month of August adding further to the resentment,” he said.
Tickoo alleged step-motherly treatment with the Engineers of the PDD as the competent authorities have been delaying the promotions despite more than 750 vacancies in the hierarchy of engineering cadre, with 01 post of Managing Director, 03 post of Executive Director, 06 Chief Engineers, 16 Superintending Engineers, 61 Executive Engineers, 132 Assistant Ex Engineers, 164 Assistant Engineers and around 350 Junior Engineers lying vacant leading to situation where every other person is having minimum two or three charge in the corporations of PDD.
The various other employee leaders of PDD namely Jaipal Sharma of Diploma Engineers Association , Tarun Gupta of Provincial Power employee’s Union, Ashiq Hussain of Lineman and Workers Union, H D Singh of Technical Employees Federation, Gurmeet Singh of JKNGEEA, Bishan Singh of PEEU, Akhil Kumar of PDL/TDL and other workers’ Union were present in the presser. They rendered unconditional support to the call of the JKEEGA for observing complete protest for 48 hours and abstain from work for next 48 hours.
JKEEGA Executive Council members Ashok Dubey, Rajeshwar Jamwal, Sunil Gupta, Jahangir Ahmed, Gulshan Bhagat, Yash Paul, Vishal Singh Chib, Ankush Sharma, Rohit Gupta, Ankush Gupta, Vijay Sharma, Purshottam Lal Sharma and Vipul Sharma were also present in the press conference.
JKEEGA appealed to the Lieutenant Governor J&K to kindly intervene and direct the competent authority to issue the approvals of the proposals recommended for promotion and regularization of the eligible officers before September 25.
