LEH, Sept 20: Amit Sharma, Secretary, Information Technology Department, Union Territory of Ladakh, has envisaged the implementation of the cutting-edge eGovernance solutions, which he learnt during the recently concluded week-long elite programme hosted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore.
The program, organized by the National eGovernance Division (NeGD), brought together select IT leaders from across the nation. This initiative coincided with the golden year of establishment for this prestigious Management School.
Having previously specialized in eGovernance at IIM Indore nearly a decade ago, Secretary Amit Sharma has a track record of successfully implementing various eGovernance models in Jammu and Kashmir.
These initiatives include the establishment of online eOffice systems, online services for citizens, and the digitization of land records. Presently, he is at the forefront of the IT mission in the Union Territory of Ladakh, where significant progress is being made on multiple fronts.
Under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Brig (Dr) B.D Mishra (Retd) and Advisor Dr Pawan Kotwal, the administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh is firmly committed to streamlining the delivery of services to the public in a transparent and efficient manner. This vision relies on the use of technology and IT tools to achieve its goals.
Secretary Amit Sharma has gained valuable insights into various solutions during his recent program, including aspects of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Web Solutions. These insights will enable the government to extend services even to remote areas near the China border.
The senior leadership program in eGovernance is an exclusive initiative of the Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India. It aims to cultivate champions of eGovernance in all states and Union Territories as part of the ongoing Digital India mission.
In his role as IT Secretary, Amit Sharma has taken the lead for the Union Territory of Ladakh, gathering a wealth of information and knowledge that will be instrumental in replicating successful eGovernance practices in Ladakh, addressing the current needs of the region.
