Govt appoints IO in fake doc case

SRINAGAR, Sept 21: The Health & Medical Education (H&ME) Department has appointed an Inquiry Officer (IO) today to investigate the “unauthorized entry” and “intrusion” into the labor room of Lal Ded Hospital here by a fake doctor.
According to an order issued in this regard, Hashmat Ali Yatoo, the Administrator of Associated Hospitals GMC Srinagar, has been designated as the Inquiry Officer. He has been tasked to submit the report within three days.
The order states, “Sanction is hereby accorded to the appointment of Hashmat Ali Yatoo, Administrator, Associated Hospitals, Government Medical College, Srinagar, as the Inquiry Officer to investigate the unauthorized entry and intrusion into the Labor Room of Lal Ded Hospital, Srinagar, by a fake doctor.”
It is pertinent to mention here that earlier, an individual impersonating a cardiologist at Lal Ded Hospital was apprehended and handed over to the police. He was identified by the police as Mohd Kifayat Rather, son of Ab Rashid Rather, resident of Saloora Ganderbal.
The police, in this regard, have stated that prima facie, the accused appears to be “mentally unsound”; however, he has been arrested for impersonating as a fake doctor at LD Hospital. FIR no 42/2023 under relevant Sections has been registered at Rajbagh Police Station.
