SRINAGAR, Sept 22: The PDP general secretary (org) and former Member of Parliament, Dr Mehboob Beg has reacted to the release of Mirwaiz Omar Farooq, stating that the development was to be taken with a fair bit of apprehension as the same was right out of BJP’s playbook to hoodwink the people.
Dr Beg pointed-out that the erstwhile State was deprived of its constitutionally validated status and that the BJP was habitual of flouting the very constitution which every public representative/government swears to uphold and abide by.
“Release of Mirwaiz is just another diversionary tactic and they expect the people to get busy supporting and welcoming his release. The question which should be asked is why was he given this `special treatment’ when all others had been released much earlier,” Dr Beg remarked.
PDP leader further remarked that the BJP must introspect as to why all the parties including BJP floated proxy parties have and continued to oppose the abrogation of Article 370 in August, 2019.
