JAMMU, Sept 22: Shiv Sena (UBT) and Sanik Samaj Party (SSP) J&K unit expressed their anguish and concern about the prevalent condition in Jammu, highlighting the indifference and apathy of Government towards people, attitude of bureaucrats and their management and unprecedented escalation in the militancy in both the regions of the Union Territory.
Addressing a press conference at Press Club here today, Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K unit chief Manish Sahni and SSP chief Colonel SS Pathania paid heartfelt tribute to the soldiers who made supreme sacrifice in the recent encounters of Rajouri and Kokernag.
In his address, Sahni said that for last 35 years Kashmir have been burning in the flame of terrorism. After Pulwama, perhaps the biggest terrorist attack was in Kokernag of Kashmir, in which Colonel, Major, Deputy SP (J&K Police) were martyred. He said that the target killing of common man and martyrdom of soldiers continue, but it is unfortunate that no major change is being seen at the top level along with fixing any accountability.
Colonel Pathania said that the Central Government probably does not have any concrete roadmap for restoration of peace and betterment in the State. “J&K, which has 90 assembly seats and 20 districts, is being run by the Lieutenant Governor along with only one non-local advisor. At the same time, the public is helpless, disappointed and angry due to administrative indifference towards public issues. The arbitrariness of the bureaucracy and lack of communication with the public is at its worst,” he said.
Both the leaders jointly asked the Central Government to nominate a retired Army General as LG of J&K on the lines of Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh, appoint a retired army officer as security advisor in the interim period and give priority to the appointments of local officers on top and important posts in police and administration.
