Visits units along LoC

SRINAGAR, Sept 22: Army’s Northern Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi today visited units along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir and reviewed the operational preparedness, officials said.
Lt Gen Dwivedi also paid a visit to the formation of Rashtriya Rifles (RR) in Anantnag to review Counter Infiltration Grid and operation preparedness.
Recently, two decorated Army officers, Colonel Manpreet Singh, Commanding Officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles, his company commander, Major Aashish Dhonchak, Deputy Superintendent of Police Himayun Muzamil Bhat, and a soldier were killed and two other soldiers were injured in a gun battle that raged in the woods of Gadrol Kokernag in Anantnag district on September 13.
Two militants including Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander Uzair Khan were also killed during the anti-militancy operation.
Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi visited frontline units along the LoC in Tangdhar in Jammu Kashmir’s Kupwara district to review the operational preparedness today, Army said.
He was also briefed on automation of intelligence and engagement Matrix.
The Army Commander interacted with the troops and felicitated them for maintaining high standards of operational preparedness in active Counter Insurgency Operations.
