JAMMU, Sept 24: The NSS volunteers of the Government College of Education (GCoE) Jammu have initiated a valuable computer literacy program at Neha Ghar, located in Kachi Chawani.
This extension activity aims to empower the inmates of Neha Ghar with essential computer skills.
Under the guidance of Programme Officer Dr Shubhra Jamwal and the patronage of Principal Prof Aekta Gupta, a dedicated team of NSS volunteers visited Neha Ghar on the occasion of NSS Day.
During this visit, the volunteers engaged in an insightful interaction with the inmates and commenced the computer literacy program using their own laptops.
Dr Shubhra Jamwal emphasized that this computer literacy program would become a regular feature, with NSS volunteers continuously visiting Neha Ghar to enhance the inmates’ technological proficiency.
In addition to computer education, the volunteers organized recreational activities that fostered a warm and familial atmosphere.
The NSS volunteers went further by distributing stationery items, fruits, and other essentials among the inmates. They also educated the inmates about their rights as enshrined in the Constitution. This thoughtful gesture aimed to improve the lives of those at Neha Ghar.
During the visit, the inmates shared their memories and challenges with the visiting team, establishing a meaningful connection between the volunteers and the beneficiaries.
The program witnessed active participation from Prof Shapia Shameem, Prof Seema Kumari, and Prof Sarita, all of whom played integral roles in making this initiative a success with the assistance of Sonika Gupta, Incharge of Neha Ghar.
