Durganagar, Dogranagar residents highlight demands

JAMMU, Sept 24: A joint meeting of residents of Durganagar and Dogranagar which was held under the presidetship of Roshan Lal Raina, president Welfare Committee Sector-01 and Sector-03, Durganagar, Sanjay Ganjoo president Welfare Committee Sector-02 and its extension, Durganagar, M.K.Razdan president Dogranagar highlighted the problems of the residents.
The meeting expressed concern over acute shortage of water and despite assurance by authorities to supply water on alternative days there is long gap of four to five days in getting water supply. The motor becomes defunct often putting people to hardships as water supply remains disturbed for many days.
The meeting said that despite the pleas to authorities to keep the stand by motor so that the water supply is not hampered in the event the motor develops snag but no attention as paid to this request.
It expressed the hope that the work on Tubewell which is being constructed by the PHE Department in Rajinder Nagar will be started in next month as assured by the concerned authorities.
The issue of defunct street lights was also discussed and concern was expressed that despite repeated pleas to JMC to restore them no attention has been paid by the officials of civic body in this regard with the result people face difficulty in moving outside their houses during night hours.
Besides , issue of lanes, drains and premixing was highlighted and again the Department’s were requested to start the work without delay as lanes and drains are in dilapidated condition for so many years and in some lanes the condition is so worst that the two wheelers can’t pass due to slippery condition as the earlier macdamization has got damaged.
