PYC launches signature campaign for restoration of democracy in J&K

JAMMU, Sept 25: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) president, Aakash Bharat today declared to launch a signature campaign aimed at restoring electoral democracy in the Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing media persons here today, PYC chief expressed concerns over recent statements made by the Lt Governor (LG) of Jammu and Kashmir, suggesting that 80% of the people in the region were content with the current LG Rule and did not desire elections. In response, the Youth Congress has initiated signature drive to reveal the true sentiment of the people.
Bharat emphasized that the majority of the youth in Jammu and Kashmir are grappling with unemployment, and instead of addressing this critical issue, the LG Government has been distributing SMART meters, imposing tolls, and offering various superficial incentives. The signature campaign aims to highlight the pressing need for employment opportunities in the region. The signature drive commenced at Bahu Fort, Ward No. 47, Jammu, and saw a significant turnout of enthusiastic participants.
He reaffirmed that this campaign will extend across the entirety of Jammu   and Kashmir. He stated, “Through this drive, we aim to convey to the current administration, led by LG Manoj Sinha, that the people of Jammu and Kashmir earnestly desire elections, not prolonged LG Rule. The  youth of Jammu and Kashmir seek employment opportunities, not tolls and smart meters, he added.
Those who accompanied PYC president included,   PYC vice presidents- Divyansh Jamwal and Fiaz Diwan, spokesperson Rahul Tondon, Chetan Sharma,  Ex-vice president PYC Ricky Dalotra, besides senior leaders Dawan Chand, Mangat Ram, Dinesh Dalotra, and Reeta Kumari, Ex-Corporator.
Additionally, the event witnessed the presence of several other dedicated supporters of the cause. The signature campaign is set to be a rallying point for the people of Jammu and Kashmir who wish to voice their demands for electoral democracy and employment opportunities in the region.
