Oil tanker used for smuggling of bovines seized with 16 cattle

RAJOURI, Sept 25: Exposing the modus operandi of the smugglers to illegally transport bovine animals to Kashmir valley via Mughal Road, the alert police in Rajouri seized an Oil Tanker and rescued 16 cattle from the clutches of smugglers.
Official sources said that on the directions of SSP Rajouri, Amritpal Singh, a police team headed by SHO Rajouri Inspector Aejaz Ahmed Wani, laid a naka on the outskirts of the town and during checking intercepted one Bharat Petroleum Oil Tanker bearing registration No HR38S- 5582 which was coming from Jammu side.
During checking the police team turned suspicious. They started intensive checking of the Oil tanker and ultimately found 16 bovines loaded mercilessly in a cruel manner without valid DM permission in the tanker.
The vehicle was seized and all the 16 animals were rescued. The police arrested tanker driver namely- Shoket Ali, son of Shah Mohd, resident of Reasi.
In this regards, an FIR under relevant sections was registered in Police Station Rajouri. The SSP directed the police teams to intensify checking of all types of vehicles in the district.
