ESM Association Akhnoor discusses pensioners’ issues

JAMMU, Sept 26: A monthly meeting of Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Association Akhnoor was held today under the chairmanship of Lakhbir Singh (veteran) at Akhnoor.
The meeting was attended by a large number of ex-servicemen of the area. The main agenda of the meeting was to discuss a solution of problems like disparities in pension, implementation of OROP-II, facilities in ECHS, CSD Canteen, equal MSP, equal disability pension, widow pension, etc.
The Chairman of the Association in his address said that taking note of points raised in last monthly meeting, he along with president Santosh Kumar and members held meeting with officials of Cross Sword Division, Officer-In-Charge of ECHS Polyclinic Akhnoor and Commanding Officer of MH 170 and apprised them of difficulties being faced in ECHS and canteen services i.e. provision of proper medicines, referral procedures and CSD Canteen matters.
He said it was brought to the notice of the concerned officials that in order to avoid the inconveniences to the patients, adequate arrangements be made to supply the medicines from polyclinic to avoid forced buying of medicines from market and referral procedure be made simplified by giving the referral powers to the medical officer attending the patient.
Singh said CO MH 170 and OIC ECHS Polyclinic Akhnoor gave assurances to solve the issues being faced by veterans. He said they will meet again to see the implementation of the assured action.
Those who spoke on the occasion include Mani Ram Bhagat, Kaka Ram, Om Prakash, Rawail Singh, Rashpal Singh, Karan Singh and Jagdev Singh.
