JAMMU, Sept 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today distributed 51,000 appointment letters among newly recruited youth through virtual mode in Rozgar Mela organized at 46 places across the country including Jammu where Union Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Som Parkash physically handed over job letters while Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh, Incharge Department of Personnel and Training, coordinated the programme.
The recruits, selected from across the country will be joining the Government in various Ministries/Departments including the Department of Posts, the Indian Audit & Accounts Department, the Department of Atomic Energy, the Department of Revenue, the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare among others, the officials said.
They said the Rozgar Mela is a step towards fulfilling the Prime Minister’s commitment to accord the highest priority to employment generation. It is expected to act as a catalyst in further employment generation and provide meaningful opportunities to the youth for their empowerment and participation in national development.
The newly inducted appointees are also getting an opportunity to train themselves through Karmayogi Prarambh, an online module on iGOT Karmayogi portal, where more than 680 e-learning courses have been made available for ‘anywhere any device’ learning format, the officials added.
Addressing the youth virtually, the Prime Minister said passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament’s new building has heralded a new future for the country, asserting that it is his Government’s policy to open new doors for girls.
“The use of technology in Government schemes has curbed corruption and complexities, and boosted credibility and comfort,” he said.
Asking them to work with the motto of “citizens-first” and deploying technology to improve governance, Modi cited its use in direct benefit transfers to beneficiaries of various schemes, booking of train tickets and digital locker among other fields.
“The Government has been working with a new mindset based on constant monitoring, mission mode implementation and mass participation in Government schemes with an aim of 100 per cent saturation in their reach,” the Prime Minister said.
The dreams of new India are big, he said, noting that presence of girls is increasing from space to sports. They are now being commissioned into the armed forces, he added.
Meanwhile, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology, MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh while addressing Rozgar Mela said that while in the UPA Government, there was heavy stagnation in promotions in Government departments, under the Modi Government the DoPT carried out mass promotions as a result of which there has been so far more than 160% increase in the number of promotions in Central Secretariat Services (CSS).
He said over 9 lakh youth have been recruited in the nine years of the present Government, as compared to 6 lakh vacancies filled up in the nine years of the previous Government. Other than new recruitments, under the stewardship of PM Modi, the Government has initiated mass promotions, alleviating disillusionment among the employees and providing motivation to work. Backlog of promotions were cleared granting 9,000, 2,000 and 4,000 in three batches.
“PM Modi has created employment opportunities with the several novel schemes launched during the last nine years. Startup policy has created immense job opportunities, – from just about 350-400 Startups, there are 1.25 lakh Startups; opening up of the Space sector led to spurt in Space Startups from just 4 to 150; the Mudra Yojana was introduced for the Unemployed where 60-65% beneficiaries are Women; Pradhan Mantri Svadeshi Yojana has benefitted about 50 lakh street vendors,” Dr Jitendra Singh said.
The DoPT Minister said the Mission Karmayogi Prarambh has been associated with the Rozgar Mela now that has helped new employees gain induction training.
He said there is no section of society which has not benefited from the Prime Minister’s concern for employment.
“Recently, PM Modi came out with the Prime Minister Vishwakarma Scheme. This is perhaps the first time since Independence that any Government has launched a scheme for the welfare of artisans, who have preserved through generations India’s traditional skills,” Dr Jitendra Singh said, adding that PM Modi himself would meet and honour the masons and construction workers who built the new Parliament complex and Bharat Mandapam, the venue of the G20 Summit.
Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Som Parkash distributed job letters among the youth in Jammu during Rozgar Mela.
Speaking to reporters after the function, Som Parkash said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong will power led to the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill in both Houses of Parliament last week.
“Women’s reservation bill was passed on the first day in the new Parliament in a historic moment. All parties supported the bill and there is nothing left to criticise,” he said, adding the bill was pending for a very long time and it was passed just because of the strong will power of Modi.
Asked about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi remarks that there is no connection between women’s reservation, census and delimitation and that it is a distraction by the Modi Government, the Union Minister said, “He should not be taken seriously. They (Congress) have failed to pass the bill despite being in power for so long. According to the constitutional provisions, delimitation and census is imperative and all things will happen after that.”
“Women reservation is a historic step taken by the Modi Government for the empowerment of women. I congratulate the government and also all the parties who supported the bill,” he added.
On the recent seizure of properties of a US-based Khalistani separatists in Amritsar and Chandigarh, Parkash said, “Any power which talks about disintegrating the country has to face the Government.”
“It is the responsibility of the Government to safeguard the unity and integrity of the nation and the Government is accordingly acting against them as per the law of the land,” he said.
On the ‘Rozgar Mela’, the Minister said it was the ninth such job fair organised by the Government to provide job letters to unemployed youth across the country.
He added that the Central Government has introduced various schemes like StartUp India and Make in India to provide soft loans to address the issue of unemployment in the country.
