JAMMU, Jan 4: A Subedar Clerk of the Army died under mysterious circumstances this morning after being hit by a gun shot at village Keri in Jogma area falling under the jurisdiction of Khour police station in Akhnoor tehsil.
He has been identified as Subedar Clerk Govind Singh, a resident of Uttarakhand.
Police said the Army personnel took out their weapons at 9.30 am in their unit for routine drill. Singh also took his Insas. At about 9.35 am, a bullet hit Singh, which killed him on spot. A unit doctor examined the Army soldier and declared him as dead.
Police parties headed by SHO Khour Surinder Raina reached the spot and shifted the body to hospital. The body was handed over to Army after post-mortem.
Khour police have registered a case under Section 174 CrPC for further investigations in the case.
