JAMMU, Jan 4: Police today sent two Pakistani nationals and a local Gujjar to Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) to ascertain whether they had any militancy links after they were arrested from forwards villages of Hariya Chak and Panyari along the International Border (IB) in Hiranagar sector few days back.
SSP Kathua Mohan Lal told the Excelsior that 16 year old Pakistani boy Imran son of Gaffar Ahmed, a resident of Jalochak, Sahiwal and his Gujjar harbourers Ghulam Hassan Din alias Noon Gujjar son of Alam Din R/o Hariya Chak have been sent to the JIC Jammu for sustained interrogation.
Another suspected Pakistani national Raju Din, 32, son of Ali Akbar, a resident of Lahore, Pakistan, who was arrested from village Panyari near Hariya Chak in Hiranagar sector has also been sent to the JIC. However, his Gujjar harbourers Fareed Ahmad has not been sent to the JIC on the ground that nationality of Raju Din was still a subject matter of question.
Police said after preliminary questioning at Rajbagh police station in Kathua district under whose jurisdiction the Pakistani nationals and their Gujjar harbourers were arrested, police decided to send three of them to JIC for sustained questioning to ascertain whether they had any militancy or any other kind of unwanted links.
The purpose of their (Pakistanis’) visit to this side would also be ascertained during questioning at the JIC, police said.
They added that Gujjar Fareed Ahmad would be sent to JIC only if it was established that Raju Din was a Gujjar.
It may be mentioned here that Raju Din has claimed that his original name was Maan Singh son of Parchu Lal, a resident of Old Delhi and that he had traveled to Jammu from Old Delhi. However, some of the security agencies claimed that Raju Din was originally a Pakistani national.
Raju Din had also stayed at different places in Gurdaspur district of Samba and parts of Samba and Kathua district after security agencies identified him and handed him over to police as a Pakistani national.
Raju Din was arrested on December 30 just two days after BSF arrested Imran when he was trying to cross over to Pakistan from the International Border in Hiranagar sector in Kathua district.
Imran had been staying with Gaffar Ahmad alias Noon Gujjar at Hariya Chak in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district for past two and a half years.
Hariya Chak was the same village where three fidayeens had first appeared in the morning of September 26 before carrying out twin terror attacks at Hiranagar police station in Kathua district and Mehsar Army camp in Samba killing 10 persons including eight security personnel and two civilians before the troops eliminated them.
