JAMMU, Sept 30: One person was charred to death after a mysterious fire engulfed his furniture factory at Akhnoor area here today.
The fire erupted in “Nandini” furniture factory at Gandharwan area of Akhnoor, possibly due to a short-circuit, around 8:15 am, today, resulting in death of the owner of the factory, identified as Rajinder Singh son of Suneet Singh of Gandharwan.
Several furniture items, including chairs, tables, and coir mattresses worth lakhs were also destroyed in the fire.
The fire flames were contained from further spreading to nearby areas after fire tenders were pressed into the service.
Inquest proceedings have been initiated to further probe the matter.
