Association condemns attachment of Patwari

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Jan 6: Claiming  that there was nothing adverse against the Patwari Halqa  Bain Bajal who was attached by DC  Jammu for illegal encroachment at village Pargalta, the All J&K Patwar Association, Tehsil Jammu has threatened  to surrender the whole Revenue record  if such improper action is taken against the field staff in future.
An emergency meeting of the Association was held today under the chairmanship of tehsil president Jammu for condemning  attachment of the Patwari without any fault.
The meet expressed surprise that despite reporting by the field staff frequently against the encroachment in Khasra number 219, no action was initiated by the higher authorities. Instead of taking action against the encroachers, the higher authorities surprisingly made the Patwari Halqa Bain Bajal a scape goat, the Association observed.
The said Patwari had reported again and again against the encroachment on Khasra number 219 at village Pargalta  in the office of tehsildar Jammu (Territorial) and after no action was taken by the latter, the former then directly reported the matter to the Deputy Commissioner Jammu while  a copy of the said report was also made to the Assistant Commissioner (Rev) Jammu, Tehsildar Jammu and Naib Tehsildar concerned. In this regard, the Naib Tehsildar  concerned also reported to the Tehsildar Jammu vide his letter number 336/NTJ dated 26-2-2013 seeking action against the encroachers and request SSP Jammu to help in stopping encroachment in Khasra number 219.
The Association also pointed out that the attached Patwari had joined the Patwar Halqa three months back and the Fard Intkhab pertaining to Khasra number 219 was not issued during his tenure. Further, field staff of the Revenue Department is purely a reporting authority and has no power for restraining  encroachment, observed the meet adding that it was the duty of higher authorities to initiate action against the land grabbers.
