4 rustlers arrested, stolen sheep worth lakhs recovered

Srinagar, Oct 3:Police in Ganderbal today solved a burglary case by arresting four rustlers and recovering 16 stolen sheep from their possession.
On September 22, the police received a written complaint from Mohammad Iqbal Thekri, son of Makhan Thekri, a resident of Kathua at present Yangoora, Lar.
In the complaint, it was stated that a few days ago, “during the night hours, some unknown thieves had barged into his cowshed and stolen 16 sheep worth lakhs.”
Accordingly, the police registered a case vide FIR No. 55/2023 under relevant sections of the law at PS Lar and initiated an investigation.
“During the course of the investigation, a team was constituted under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal, led by SHO PS Lar, on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar,” the police said.
After strenuous efforts, the police apprehended four persons identified as Mudasir Ahmad Dar, son of Gh Rasool Dar, a resident of Ari Goripora Kangan, Shabir Ahmad Mir, son of Ab Khaliq Mir, a resident of Ari Goripora Kangan, Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir, son of Ab Rashid Mir, a resident of Ari Goripora Kangan, and Riyaz Ahmad Damiyal, son of Mohd Shafi Damiyal, a resident of Gund Aku.
During questioning, “they admitted their involvement in the commission of the crime. Based on their disclosure, the stolen 16 sheep were recovered.”
The police stated that the accused persons have been shifted to the Police Station, where they remain in custody.
