JAMMU, Oct 3: Search and cordon operation by Army, police and paramilitary forces has been expanded in Broh forest area of Kalakote tehsil in Rajouri district as it entered into second day today but no fresh firing was reported since last night when three Army soldiers were injured.
A Defence spokesman said the operation against the militants, based on timely and accurate intelligence, is still under progress in full synergy with Jammu and Kashmir Police.
“The operation is being conducted in difficult terrain. In view of this, it is being executed very deliberately to avoid collateral damage,” the spokesman said.
He added that the local people are fully supporting security personnel in the search and cordon operation.
As reported, first direct contact between security forces and militants was established last night in which three Army personnel were injured.
Since then, as per the officials, there has been no fresh firing at the site but there were reports that the militants, numbering 2-3, remained inside Broh forest area.
The militants are believed to be Pakistanis and are equipped with sophisticated weapons and explosives.
Addition reinforcement of Army and police has been rushed to Broh forests to strengthen the cordon and ensure that the militants don’t manage to escape.
Senior officers including ADGP Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh are also camping at the spot.
