JAMMU, Oct 4: Supreme Court has adjourned till October 30 the hearing in Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by Mosque Committee challenging May 26, 2023 ordered passed by Allahabad High Court transferring to itself a bunch of suits over Krishna Janambhoomi Shahi Eidgah Mosque dispute along with applications for impleaders and intervenors.
After hearing Nar Hari Singh, Advocate on Record on behalf of applicant Naresh Yadav, who filed the original suit in Mathura, Supreme Court observed, “despite earlier order no information or document has been received from the registry of the Allahabad High Court as such the matter is adjourned till October 30”.
The Apex Court directed that a reminder be sent along with last order to the High Court’s registry and further instructed that July 21 order be placed before Chief Justice Allahabad High Court “on the administrative side to ensure a proper response”. The Apex Court also directed the concerned Registrar to be personally present on next date of hearing.
It is pertinent to mention here that on the last date of hearing the court indicated that it would be better if the HC would decide the matter to avoid the ‘disquiet’ caused by multiplicity of proceedings and prolonged pendency of dispute. The Apex Court also sought details from the Allahabad High Court registry pertaining to the civil suits that were directed to be consolidated and transferred from the HC.
