Basohli Pashmina, Udhampur’s Kaladi get GI tag

SRINAGAR, Oct 4: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today extended his hearty congratulations to the weavers, producers and families associated with Basohli Pashmina and Kaladi dairy product from Udhampur for getting the Geographical Indication (GI) Tag.
In a tweet, the Lt Governor said: “A moment of pride for J&K. Basohli Pashmina & Udhampur Kaladi get Geographical Indication (GI) Tag. It will boost morale of weavers and producers, families associated with Kaladi dairy product. Congratulations to the people of the UT”.
“My sincere gratitude to GoI, Association of producers, NABARD, UT Department and all other stakeholders for their effort to further boost export and to secure the future of thousands of families associated with these two glorious cultural and heritage symbols of J&K UT,” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, Union MoS in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh has also welcomed GI tag for Kaladi “Second great celebration in a single day for#Udhampur-#Kathua-#Doda Lok Sabha constituency which has been received laurels, one after the other. After famous #Basohli paintings, #Bhaderwah Rajma and #Ramban Sulai Honey and this morning Basohli #Pashmina, the second great landmark in a single day is the declaration of GI Tag for the milk product “Kalhari” which had been in response to our proposal as a representative MP notified under “One District One Product” scheme for disctrict Udhampur. Thanks PM Narendra Modi for always giving special preference to this far flung hilly constituency of Udhampur”, Dr Jitendra Singh wrote on X.
