JAMMU, Oct 5: Police in Akhnoor area here claimed today that they have arrested a bootlegger and recovered 70 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession.
A police spokesperson said that information was received regarding one bootlegger selling illicit liquor in the area under the jurisdiction of Police Station Akhnoor.
On this, he said special teams of Akhnoor Police Station led by SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Sharma assisted by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq during naka checking at Pannu Chowk rounded up a suspected person.
During search of the suspect later identified as Satpal of Koudewala, District Jammu, the police spokesperson said that 70 bottles of illicit liquor of JK Special Whisky were recovered.
On this, he said a case FIR number 270/2023 under section 48-A of the Excise Act was registered at Police Station Akhnoor and further investigation taken up.
