UDHAMPUR, Oct 5: Acting swiftly, District Police Udhampur solved a theft case within 24 hours and recovered the stolen cash amounting to Rs 49000 besides arresting the accused.
One person namely Karnail Singh, son of Rattan Singh of Khail, Ramnagar had yesterday reported at Police Station Ramnagar that cash amounting to Rs 49000 was stolen by an unidentified person from his bag when he was standing in a queue in the SBI bank at Ramnagar Bazar to get transaction entries printed on his passbook.
Acting on the complaint, a case FIR number 115/2023, under section 379 IPC was registered at P/S Ramnagar and investigation was started. During the course of investigation, a police team led by SHO Ramnagar, Insp Sohan Singh , under the supervision of SDPO Ramnagar Vishal Manhas succeeded in arresting the accused from the Gurlang area of Ramnagar town.
The accused was identified as Ramesh, son of Bali Ram of Vidya Nagar, Ambala Cantt, Haryana. During sustained questioning, he confessed to have committed the offence. On his disclosure, the stolen amount of Rs 49000 was also recovered from the nearby forest area of Nozi, Ramnagar.
Meanwhile, Police Station Ramnagar also arrested a snatcher who had allegedly tried to snatch purse of one Neelam Devi, resident of Ward number 01, Ramnagar on October 2, when she was coming towards her house after closing her shop.
The arrested accused was identified as Munish Kumar, son of Raj Kumar of Kaghote Ramnagar . Further investigation is going on into the cases to ascertain the involvement of both the thieves in other theft cases.
