BHADERWAH, Jan 7: A woman was murdered by her in-laws over dowry issue here.
As per reports, 24-year-old Babli Devi, wife of Sulinder Singh of village Hunga, Bhaderwah was found dead at her in-laws house this morning.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Sub District Hospital, where after autopsy, it was handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Bhaderwah and the husband of the woman has been arrested for questioning.
“My daughter was tortured physically and mentally to bring more dowry and other luxurious things for the past 5 years and when I failed to meet their demands, they (in-laws) murdered my daughter”, said Sangeeta Devi, mother of the deceased.
Deceased’s father Lal Singh along with relatives and villagers held a protest demanding strict action against the culprits.
