J&K Police Initiates Proclamation Proceedings Against 2 Absconding Militants In Shopian

Srinagar, Oct 7: Jammu and Kashmir police in coordination with Revenue department on Saturday initiated proclamation proceedings against two absconding militants in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Police said the proclamation proceedings started against Bilal Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Cheki Cholen and Abid Ramzan Sheikh of Chotipora Shopian allegedly involved in many acts of terrorism.
There are atleast eight FIRs registered against the duo.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Shopian Tanushree said that the district Police were working closely with other agencies to follow due process and bring such elements to justice.
She said these proceedings have been initiated against active terrorists who were evading their arrest as open non-bailable warrant on September 6, 2023 could not get executed against them.
“Accordingly, proclamation notice under section 82 of CrPC issued by the Hon’ble Court of NIA has been pasted/circulated at their residences and other prominent places in their respective native villages along with revenue officials with the directions that said wanted terrorists shall surrender before investigation officer or honourable court of law otherwise further proceedings will be initiated accordingly against them,” the SSP said.
Shopian Police also used drum beating to inform the general public about the ongoing efforts to apprehend the said active militants who are required in connection with investigation of terror related cases.
Police said the proclamation proceedings and property attachment are part of a comprehensive effort to address terrorism and maintain the rule of law.
“We urge the public to remain vigilant and report information that may assist in the apprehension of these active terrorists,” the Top police officer said. (AGENCIES)
