Retired police personnel highlight grievances

JAMMU, Oct 8: The monthly meeting of the Retirees Police League District Jammu was held in the retirees’ office Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, here today.
A statement said that Karanjit Singh (Retired DySP), President Retirees Police League District Jammu, chaired the meeting, wherein the retirees discussed various issues, including non-availability of free medicines to the retired police personnel.
They also demanded that a provision should be made for the exemption of police retirees from income tax as they believed that their savings help them in managing their day-to-day requirements, including expenses for their old age morbidities.
The retired police personnel also demanded a special quota in all recruitments, including the defence forces.
In the meeting, the retirees thanked Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh, for providing good medical staff in the police hospital and wished that one doctor is deputed to their meeting to give medical advice and routine check up to the retired personnel.
They also extended thanks to the District Police Jammu for all the logistical support in helping them conduct their monthly meetings and requested the local unit heads to join them in future. They said this boost their morale.
Those who participated in the meeting included retired SSPs Chirag Din, Makhan Lal Sharma, ML Mehra, retired SPs SR Datta, BL Kaul, retired DySPs S Mohinder Singh, Kuldip Raj, Yoginder Singh, Mohammad Sadiq, and other police personnel including SIs Dhian Singh, Ved Raj and Ashok Kumar.
