Cardamom futures gain 0.61 pc as demand improves

NEW DELHI, Jan 8: Cardamom prices rose by 0.61 per cent to Rs 721.50 per kg in futures trade today after speculators enlarged positions on good buying in spot markets.

Sentiments improved further as a result of firm demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing belts.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for February contracts rose by Rs 4.40, or 0.61 per cent, to Rs 721.50 per kg, with a trading volume of 367 lots.

The spice for delivery in January was trading up by Rs 2.10, or 0.29 per cent, to Rs 708 per kg, with a business volume of 27 lots.

Traders said rising export and spot demand against restricted arrivals from producing regions mainly influenced cardamom prices at futures market. (AGENCIES)
