JAMMU, Oct 10: The Range Police Headquarters (RPHQ) Jammu today conducted a drug awareness campaign, striving to cultivate a drug-free community.
This initiative was conducted at the Government Higher Secondary School in Bhalwal under the Civic Action Programme, overseen by DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Shakti Kumar Pathak.
The event garnered participation from the school’s dedicated staff and students, as well as concerned members of the civil society in the vicinity.
Addressing the audience, the chief guest of the programme, SSP Rajinder Singh Katoch, SO to DIG Jammu, emphasized that RPHQ Jammu intends to organize similar programs within the jurisdiction of each police station in Jammu, Samba, and Kathua Districts.
He underscored the importance of students not only excelling in their studies but also actively participating in sports, cultural activities, and steering clear of drugs and negative influences.
The school’s Principal, Vidhyutma Gupta, enlightened the audience about the various types of drugs and their detrimental effects, urging students to steer clear of both drugs and undesirable company.
Students from the school presented essays on the adverse effects of drugs, earning them rewards of Rs 500 each, along with certificates from RPHQ Jammu and an additional Rs 500 each from Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Chairman, Team Jammu.
The event featured impactful Dogri poetry on the perils of drug abuse by Randir Singh Rajpuria, Dr Sushma Rajput, and Roshan Bral.
SP Rural, Rahul Charak, Zorawar Singh Jamwal (Team Jammu), Vikas Sharma (Drug De-addiction & Rehab Centre Domana), and Sarpanch Bhalwal, Raj Dev Singh, also shared their insights regarding the detrimental effects of drugs and alcohol.
All speakers stressed the importance of students actively participating in sports, excelling in studies, and, most importantly, obeying their parents.
