ReT Forum threatens stir if demands not met by Jan 15

JAMMU, Jan 8: Serving an ultimatum, Jammu & Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleam Teachers Forum threatened to launch an indefinite strike if their demands are not conceded by January 15.
Decision in this regard was taken in meetings of the Forum, held separately in all ten districts of Jammu province.
In these meeting, the Forum highlighted ReTs’ demands, which included regularization order for converted ReTs, immediate release of the salary of regularized ReTs under SSA, inclusion of service, release the salary of regularized female teachers in KGVP and provision of transfer policy in favour of regularized ReTs.
Meeting of Forum in district Jammu was chaired by vice-chairperson Ninu- Latta and speakers strongly criticized the State Government for step motherly behavior towards the thousands ReTs of the State.
In Udhampur, meeting was held in Mini Stadium under the chairmanship of Forum’s district president Sudesh Kumar and State vice chairman Bhupinder Singh who said that they met with Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand so many times regarding their demands but nothing has been done so far. If the Government fails to fulfill the genuine demands before January 15, thousands of ReTs will come on the roads with their families and Government will responsible for that, they warned.
In Kathua, district president Pankaj Verma chaired the meeting and strongly lambasted the State Government for not issuing the regularization order to thousands of converted ReTs. .
Similar meetings were held in Rajouri, Samba, Poonch, Doda, Kishtwar, Reasi and Ramban.
