JAMMU, Jan 8: Taking strong exception to the conduct of State’s Cabinet Sub Committee (CSC) for creation of new administrative units during its ongoing seven day tour of different districts, BJP National Executive Member & J&K chief spokesperson, Dr. Jitendra Singh said here, today that on the very first day of its visit to Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar districts, the Committee members have raised question mark on the intentions and designs of the exercise undertaken by them by not inviting representatives of local BJP units for the interaction held at these district headquarters.
Addressing a press conference at Party Headquarters here, today, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, unless the CSC functions with absolute transparency, it will be seen as acting with malafide intentions. In such case, he said, the entire exercise undertaken by the CSC could prove counter-productive because instead of achieving its avowed objective of removing the regional imbalance, it could only end up in further aggravating the imbalance.
Referring to the earlier experience when there was a demand for five additional districts for Jammu province, Dr. Jitendra Singh said instead of responding in a fair manner, the then State Government headed by Ghulam Nabi Azad had announced four new districts each for both Jammu as well as Kashmir provinces even though there was no such demand from the Kashmir province. The manner in which the CSC is conducting itself now smacks of a similar design in a bid to appease the Kashmir-centric constituency, he added.
Dr. Jitendra Singh called on the CSC members to immediately convene a meeting of the BJP representatives from erstwhile Doda who were not involved in yesterday’s deliberations and take every care to honestly elicit the opinion of all stake holders during its deliberations in other districts during the next few days.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jitendra Singh also asked the Jammu based Congress Ministers and MLAs to make their position clear on the issues of creating new administrative units including new districts, tehsils, blocks etc. for Jammu province.
BJP Senior leader Mohan Singh Chauhan and State Press Secretary Balbir Ram Rattan were also present in the press conference.
