Shabir orders inquiry against absentee officials

JAMMU, Jan 8: Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan during a surprise visit to Sub- District Hospital, Bishnah imposed fine of Rs. 1000 each on 3 Medical Officers and Rs 500 each on 4 para-medical staff members of the hospital for dereliction of duty .
The Minister also directed Director Health Services, Jammu for seeking an explanation from Block Medical Officer for mismanagement and indiscipline in the hospital.
The Minister while checking the attendance register found that 23 staff members had not marked their attendance and taking a serious note of the issue ordered an inquiry in this regard and directed Director Health Services Jammu to seek explanations from Block Medical Officer besides absentee staff members for further action. He also directed concerned authorities to take immediate steps for ensuring proper management in the hospital to avoid inconvenience to the patients.
The Minister during the inspection took stock of the functioning of the hospital. He went round each section of the hospital, enquired welfare of the patients and took feedback from the patients about the healthcare facilities been extended to them
During the inspection, the Minister directed the concerned to ensure all facilities to the patients and to pregnant women and neonates. He underscored the need for maintaining proper sanitation in and around the hospital, besides adherence to dress code by the hospital staff.
Mr. Shabir also stressed for punctuality of the medicos and para-medicos. He also directed for displaying duty sheets of the officials, adding that lapses in this regard would be viewed seriously and will call for stern action against the negligent officials.
Meanwhile, the Minister also inspected pace of progress of under construction new SDH complex Bishnah. He was apprised that this hospital building is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 14 crore. While taking stock of the work of the different components of the project, the Minister instructed the concerned executing agency to ensure its time bound completion.
Meanwhile, Shabir inaugurated newly constructed Trauma Centre building at Ghagwal in Samba.
The hospital building has been completed at a cost of Rs 99.83 lakh .This 10 bedded unit , having facilities of plaster room, laboratory, X-Ray, UCG, doctors rooms and dispensary would help to cater to the emergency cases besides providing health care facilities to other patients .
Legislators, Durga Das, Subash Sharma, District Development Commissioner, Samba, R. K. Verma , Director Health Services Jammu , Dr. B S Phatania and former MLA, Girdari Lal Chalhotra were also present on the occasion.
Addressing a largely attended public gathering after inauguration of Truama Center, the Minister re-affirmed the Government’s determination to provide better health facilities to the people particularly in far-off and remote villages. He said under a comprehensive and gigantic health consolidation and expansion programme scores of health centers in the villages, sub-districts and districts have been completed and many are in the process of completion.
