HP Cabinet permits to construct residential houses in green belt area

SHIMLA, Oct 11: In a major relief to those plot owners who have bought land in the green belt area but couldn’t not build residential houses, the Himachal Pradesh Cabinet which met here today permitted them to take up the construction works.
The Cabinet, Chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukh, has decided to amend the Shimla Development Plan.
The construction of residential houses would be permitted in the green belt area lying above the road from Navbhar to Ram Chandra Chowk to Machhiwali Kothi to Christ Church to Lakkar Bazar to IGMC to Sanjauli Chowk to Navbhar.
As per Shimla Development Plan, the government would permit only those plots in which there are no trees.
Further, it also decided to amend H.P. Town and Country Planning Rules to allow construction at a distance of 5 meters and 7 meters from Nallah and khad respectively. (UNI)
