SVO nabs SWD cashier red handed taking graft

JAMMU, Jan 8: The State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) today arrested a cashier of Social Welfare Department (SWD) red handed while taking corruption of Rs 2000 for releasing a cheque of Rs 4000 in favour of a computer repair dealer.
The SVO team under the supervision of SSP Vigilance Organisation, Jammu, Rupinder Chalotra nabbed the cashier identified as Pawan Kumar Padha, posted in the office of District Social Welfare Officer, Ambphalla as soon as he accepted Rs 2000 worth graft from Kamal Kumar for giving him a cheque of Rs 4000.
Sources said Pawan Kumar had been delaying release of Rs 4000 worth cheque of Kamal Kumar since December seeking Rs 2000 in lieu of payment. Mr Kumar had repaired computers of the Social Welfare Department.
Pawan Kumar had asked Kamal Kumar to come at Baba Lal Ji Chowk at Circular Road and take the cheque after paying Rs 2000 worth corruption amount. As soon as Mr Kumar made the payment, the Vigilance sleuths nabbed the cashier red handed along with the corruption amount. Mr Kumar had complained to the SVO about corruption demand of Pawan Kumar.
Sources said the arrest was made in the presence of independent witnessed. After the arrest Pawan Kumar Padha has been lodged in Pacca Danga police station. The Vigilance Organisation has registered a case against him.
