Drainage system should be on top priority for JMC: Manhas

JAMMU, Oct 11: Former Member-Parliament and ex-J&K BJP president Shamsher Singh Manhas today said that the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) should evolve new method and technology for efficient drainage system in Jammu City.
Manhas stated this while starting the construction work of a ‘Nallah’ with an estimated cost of 6 crore rupees along with Councillor Mohinder Bhagat in JMC ward number 61. He said drainage systems include all of the piping within a private or public property that conveys sewage, rainwater, and other liquid waste to a point of disposal. He said that the main objective of a drainage system should be to collect and remove waste matter systematically to maintain healthy conditions.
The fomer MP said the construction of the ‘Nallah’ will strengthen and improve the natural drainage system, ecological and environmental conditions within and around. He said it will also curb deterioration of the underground water quality due to percolation of untreated sewage and therefore, it would positively impact the lives of nearby residents of ward number 61.
Councillor Mohinder Bhagat said the deteriorated condition of the ‘Nallah’ created havoc in the lives of people residing nearby. He said that during the last five years he strived hard for the development of ward number 61.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Councillor Suraj Padha, Councillor Kuldeep Chib, district president Omi Khajuria, mandal president Suresh Khajuria and Ravi Verma.
