Mechanized mail service inaugurated at Udhampur Head Post Office

UDHAMPUR, Oct 12: On the occasion, of National Postal Week, which is being celebrated by India Post from 9th to 13 Oct in whole country, new Mechanized Mail Service, was inaugurated here today. The service was inaugurated by Col Vinod Kumar, PMG Jammu Region, J&K.
The new service Nodal Delivery Beat (NDB) of the Department of Posts at Udhampur Head Post Office, under this new arrangement delivery of mails will be done by postman who will go on motorbike.
The objective of the NDB is to ensure the last mile delivery to the doorstep of the customers in fastest mechanized manner.
Col Vinod intimated that Udhampur head post office was established in year 1968, since then mail is being delivered by Postmen on bicycle or on foot. Now, with this new value addition the parcels which are to be delivered in and around the areas of Udhampur will be delivered by using motorbike.
“Doorstep delivery of service with human touch” is the primary focus said Col Vinod Kumar, the nodal beat delivery functioning to ensure direct, mechanized delivery of parcels to Udhampur people on the same day of receipt at Udhampur Head Post Office.
He emphasized that effective delivery of parcels is one of the biggest challenges faced by the Department of Posts. This newly inaugurated service will benefit the public by getting their parcel at their door step on the same day of receipt at Udhampur HPO.
He also informed that with the help of tracking system now a sender can search the whereabout of her/his article through a robust system.
Amit Supdt Udhampur, Surinder Sharma Asstt Supdt, Sagar Das Postmaster Udhampur HPO and other postal staff were present in the inauguration function.
