Samba police arrests 2 for pilferage, black marketing of Govt ration

SAMBA, Oct 12: Samba police has seized 48 sacks of Government ration (wheat grains) each weighing 50 kgs at Katlai Samba and arrested two accused for pilferage, breach of trust and black marketing.
The arrested persons have been identified as Chuni Lal, son of Sant Ram and Avtar Singh alias Manga son of Sardar Singh both residents of Katlai, Samba.
Police said Government ration was seized under the overall supervision of SSP Samba, Benam Tosh by police party headed by Police Officer in the presence of Executive Magistrate Ist Class from a private store of a private person concealed under tarpaulin.
It said a police party of police post Rakh Amb Tali headed by ASI Ashok Kumar was on patrolling duty when information was received by it from reliable sources regarding pilferage and black-marketing of Government ration supply. Thereafter, Deputy SP, Garu Ram, Executive Magistrate Ist Class and Chowki Officer, Rakh Amb Talli Davinder Singh also reached on the spot and seized 48 sacks of Government ration (wheat grains) each weighing 50 kg which were concealed by the accused persons under tarpaulin.
A case FIR No. 241/2023 U/S 409,413 IPC, 3/7 Essential Commodities Act has been registered at Police Station Samba through Police Post, Rakh Amb Talli and investigation is being monitored by Additional SP Samba, Surinder Choudhary.
On the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Benam Tosh, police has launched special drive against the elements involved in pilferage, breach of trust, black marketing and related scams in Samba district and accused are being arrested under law.
