JAMMU, Oct 12: Police claimed that they have arrested one person with 95 e-cigarettes and 39 bottles of Vape Juice from Gandhi Nagar area here today.
Vape Juice also called as e-juice or e-liquid is a liquid that is used inside an e-cigarette.
A police spokesperson said that information was received at Police Station Gandhi Nagar regarding the sale of e-cigarettes in the area under the jurisdiction of Police Station Gandhi Nagar.
Acting on the complaint, he said, a case FIR number 242/2023 Under Sections 4/7 of the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019 was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar Jammu and investigation started.
Post registration of FIR, he said, special teams of Police Station Gandhi Nagar led by SDPO South, Sachit Sharma, assisted by SHO Gandhi Nagar Police Station, Inspector Pankaj Sharma rounded up one accused with the help of technical and human intelligence.
The accused, who was later identified as Lakhwinder Koul alias Chotu of Nanak Nagar, Jammu, was selling the e-cigarettes at a shop namely Elite Smokers, near Laxmi Narayan Mandir, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, said the police spokesperson.
During search of the accused, 95 e-cigarettes and 39 bottles of Vape Juice were recovered from the possession of the accused, he said.
Police are further investigating the case.
