Youth killed in accident, teenager drowns

SAMBA, Oct 12: A youth died in a road accident near Snerky temple in Samba today after the scooty which he was riding was hit by a truck.
Police said the scooty was hit by a truck of Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC). The youth riding the scooty was seriously injured after the two-wheeler was hit by the truck. With the help of local people, he was immediately taken to District Hospital Samba. After first aid at District Hospital Samba, he was referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu for specialised treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The deceased has been identified as Umed Singh Sambyal alias Amu, son of Ujjagar Singh Sambyal, resident of Kheri Mandi, Samba. The post-mortem of the dead body has been done by the doctor in the hospital and the body has been handed over to the family members for last rites. In this context, the police have arrested the truck driver and registered a case against him under relevant sections of the law.
In another incident a teenager drowned in a ditch of a nallah in village Abtal in Ramgarh area of Samba district this afternoon.
According to police he was grazing cattle and when he went near the nullah he fell in the ditch and drowned. He died on the spot. The deceased has been identified as Teg Ali, 14, son of Shamsher Ali of village Mahal near RR Palace Randwan road falling in the jurisdiction of Ramgarh Police Station.
His body was fished out from the ditch and handed over to family for last rites. The Ramgarh Police has registered a case under relevant sections of the law in this regard.
