During a media interaction held at a joining-in ceremony, Vikar stated: “The people of J&K are eyeing the leadership of the Congress party because our people have been tormented a lot. The democratic setup has been destroyed, and the constitution has been suspended. Our cadre has increased tenfold in the last year in Srinagar, and people want a change in the form of the Congress, be it in J&K or the rest of the country.”
The joining-in ceremony saw the inclusion of a number of activists and zonal leadership from parties like the PDP and Apni Party into the Congress, along with a significant number of young activists from Srinagar city. Vikar, on the occasion, emphasized the vital role that youngsters are expected to play, noting that 90 percent of the new entrants are youth.
He expressed the party’s readiness to participate in upcoming elections, be it municipal, panchayat, or Assembly elections, with a commitment to exceeding expectations. “In the coming days, we will conduct programs in J&K. Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge will be invited to address the people in various parts of J&K. We will excel in all these elections, surpassing expectations,” he declared.
Vikar further pledged that the Congress would emerge as the single largest party in J&K, promising a return to prosperity for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “Unemployment will be addressed, and the issue of the problematic smart meters, which are causing hardships for the people, will be resolved. Property Taxes will be eliminated,” he assured.
The JKPCC President also addressed concerns related to the spread of “terror” by the BJP, alleging harassment of employees, people and the dismantling of the democratic system.
Reflecting on the party’s recent performance in the Kargil Hill Development Council Elections, conducted in alliance with the National Conference, Vikar confidently stated that when future elections are held, “the BJP and its allies won’t even have a foothold because the people will not spare them. They will be ousted for tormenting the common masses.”
