Utility services suffered due to self-centric approach of BJP: Bhalla

JAMMU, Oct 14: Deputation of families, who were evicted from Jammu Airport as a part of expansion, today called on JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla and apprised him of their grievance.
They alleged that the administration was lethargic towards giving possession of alternative plots in Belicharana for their rehabilitation and warned to intensify the protest if the needful is not done. Bhalla appealed the Govt to immediately address this issue on humanitarian ground as keeping the families waiting for rehabilitation was violation of human rights.
Bhalla alleged that lakhs of people belonging to weaker sections such as old age persons, widows/divorcees, women in distress, transgenders and persons with disabilities (PwDs) were struggling for their survival as the J&K Government has failed to release Rs 1000 pension in their favour for more than a year now.
“The present UT administration has no mercy for handicapped persons. First, they asked them to make UIDAI cards to avail pension scheme and when they made these cards after a lot of struggle then they asked them to apply on SUGAM portal to get benefit of the pension scheme,” he said.
Bhalla accused the BJP Govt of putting the Union Territory’s interests and development “subservient to the pleasure of its vested interests”. He said the “lack of cohesion and vision” has made the people of Jammu and Kashmir suffer on the development front. “Despite being in power at the Centre and in Jammu and Kashmir, the party has failed miserably when it comes to governance and let Jammu and Kashmir down on all fronts,” he said, adding that the BJP has nothing to showcase as its achievement.
While referring to the issues confronting the people of J&K Kashmir, said in the absence of an elected Government, the Lieutenant Governor-led administration has failed to give a push to the schemes and projects aimed at overall development and welfare of various areas and different segments of the society “We will keep pursuing and highlighting every issue, major or minor, to see Jammu and Kashmir progress and prosper, notwithstanding the odds,” the Congress leader said.
