SSH protests, demands compensation for loss to crops in hailstorm

JAMMU, Oct 15: Shiv Sena Hindustan (SSH) under the leadership of its J&K president, Ganesh Choudhary here today staged a protest demonstration and demanded adequate compensation for farmers of Jammu who lost their standing crops in the recent hailstorm.
Addressing media persons, Ganesh talked about losses to Paddy crops due to incessant hailstorm that completely damaged the standing crops of farmers in several areas of Jammu district.
He claimed that more than 75 percent Paddy crop has been damaged and appealed to the Divisional Administration and District Administration to direct the Revenue Department for assessing losses of damaged crops.
Ganesh appealed to the LG to issue necessary directions to revenue officials for speeding up the process of assessing damaged crops so that farmers may get timely compensation.
He also demanded that the farmers who have ‘Fasal Bima’ should be compensated immediately on priority basis.
The Shiv Sena leader said that affected farmers hail from Bishnah, R.S Pura, Samba and other areas.
He said that the Government should waive off KCC loans and electricity charges as the farmers are not in a position to pay instalments of loan or electricity charges after the crop has been damaged.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were State chairman Shashi Pal Singh Salathia, Jammu District president, Rai Kumar Gupta, Samba District president, Nek Ram, Badi Brahmana Block president, Sanjeev Kumar, Bishnah Block vice president, Sankar Singh and others.
