IGP Jammu reviews crime scenario in Kathua

KATHUA, Oct 16: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, today chaired a high-level meeting of the police officers to conduct a comprehensive review of the crime situation and the overall performance of District Kathua.
A statement said that officers present in the meeting including the supervisory officers, SHOs, IOs, and other police officers discussed threadbare the status of cases registered in the current year and addressed pending matters.
Accompanied by DIG JKS Range, Shakti Pathak, and a team of officers, IGP Jain emphasized the primary goal of the meeting-to identify areas for improvement in quality of investigations.
The meeting primarily focused on addressing NDPS cases, bovine smuggling cases, property crimes, crimes against individuals, and inquest proceedings.
Attendees were directed to give special attention to NDPS cases, particularly in tracing the source, carriers, and destinations.
Theft cases also came under scrutiny, with IGP Jain urging the development of a strategic plan. Enhanced night patrolling and improvements in the beat system were recommended.
He underscored the importance of effective prosecution in NDPS cases and other complex matters, ensuring that they lead to convictions.
IGP Jain advised the officers to expedite the resolution of pending cases and public complaints, providing relief to the community. He directed investigating officers to work promptly on cases assigned to them.
The officers were encouraged to strengthen the Criminal Investigation (CI) network and enhance police station operations through effective supervision.
SSP Kathua, Shivdeep Singh Jamwal, delivered a detailed presentation on the law and order, crime, and security scenario in the district. He also discussed various initiatives taken to bolster security measures and policing.
Later, IGP Jammu, Anand Jain, conducted a public meeting at the Kathua District Police Lines. The gathering included dignitaries like DDCs, BDCs, senior citizens, and members of the Beopar Mandal, who raised various public concerns.
The officers assured the attendees that police would promptly address their genuine complaints related to law enforcement. The community members were also encouraged to cooperate with the police in tackling the drug problem and identifying potential troublemakers who disrupt peace in the region.
