One year imprisonment to clerk in corruption charges

JAMMU, Oct 17: Additional Special Judge, Anti- Corruption, Jammu OP Bhagat has convicted Deepak Sharma, Junior Clerk then posted in office of Transport Commissioner Jammu, who was caught red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 5000, and awarded one year imprisonment.
The accused was arrested while demanding and accepting bribe for replacement of route permit of old vehicle.
After hearing Advocate PS Parmar for the accused whereas APP Anoop Kumar for the ACB, the court observed, “during trial of the case offences under Section 5(1) (d) read with 5(2) of J&K PC Act 2006 and 161 RPC (4-A PC Act) were established as such accused is convicted to undergo simple imprisonment of one year and pay a fine of Rs 15000. In default of payment of fine, the convict had been further ordered to undergo imprisonment of one month”.
